Hi all, I'm looking to buy a pre-cat 4.0 Griffith as a weekend toy. Apart from the usual wishbone and outrigger gremlins, what should I be on the look out for?

Not may 4.0s about so your choice will be limited, if you want the pre-cat sound then maybe a 4.3 is worth including on your list.

You've identified the main areas, so the rest is general condition and a nice collection of invoices and/or dealer stamps to prove teh car's been looked after. The other advice is usually not to buy the first one you look at but as long as it's a good car and you've not got carried away by the excitement of it all there's no reason not to.

If you want some advice from owners why not pop over to the NEC Classic in November and come and have a chat on the TVRCC stand or visit a local TVRCC meet.

You won't regret if it is a good one....... the pre-cats are rather a select group, unlike the commoners in their 500's

It looks good, chassis looks clean and solid as far as I can see. Only niggle is a bit of play in the steering at dead centre.

I was going to suggest this but din't want to steer you in any particular direction. I've seen 3 in juniper green and it looks fab on a Griff IMO. Unfortunately, one original 430BV was written off by someone on here in that colour. Also seen a 500 about 1997 on reg M6TVR - never seen it since.

The Juniper Green Griff looks fantastic. I absolutely love the colour but it is a bit marmite with other people.
Hopefully James has done you proud and you've got yourself a fabulous car.

That car looks superb, I'd been watching it for a while but had set my heart on a 4.3. And Im not sure what others mean about the price, it looks very competitive given the confidence of buying from a trusted source.

I brought my griff from james and to be fair the only dodgy thing is the photo of him on his web site . I'm surprised the authorities haven't followed that up

1. I don't like Magnolia dashboards.
2. I have a fetish for 5-spoke wheels.
3. I liked the Juniper green paint.

When I went to test drive the green one I also had a look at the blue one. It looked in nice condition. James is a top bloke to deal with and I'm very pleased with the car
