C'mon guys its cheap racing, and great fun. Its £12 entry plus if you want to run £20 for the day (or £35 for the weekend) and that's for unlimited runs.
You'll need your licence, a helmet and wear long sleeves and trousers which isn't a problem this time of year. Your car is checked over to ensure it is roadworthy and has NO leaks. Once you've been approved its off to register and you can then go and line up. Bit daunting when there's soemthing tasty next to you or even worse when it looks like an old nail and it whoops your ass. My tip is take is easy on the first run to get your bearings and you can ramp it up from there as the adrenalin will kick in when you're on the line waiting for the lights to change. make sure you fill up too as the nearest fuel is back into STratford which gets busy at weekends. Hope to see some of you there.

I think I will wait for the next Pod event. I cannot be arsed with all the H&S crap at Shakey and I do not own a crash helmet.

Don't get me wrong for a proper racecar then of course helment, etc required but not being funny there is a good chance I will be driving faster on the motorway than the drag strip and the motorway is a far higher risk environment.

Shakey say are not allowed to drive in a straight line with a short sleeved shirt as this may be dangerous. This is cleanly no good as everyone knows that a medallions only go with short sleeved shirts.

You're actually right on the helmet thing there Mathew as at the pod you only have to wear one if your terminal speed EXCEEDS 110mph, as you're in the griff' you wont need to hehe

A standard Griff / Chim 500 wouldn't get over 110MPH terminal anyway would it?

hehe you cheeky git. I believe Derek holds the record for N/A Griff / Chim 500 1/4 mile and his terminal was just over 110 if memory serves me correct. So there is no chance of most of us needed a crash lid, only the turb, SC and gas boys.

Looking forward to the next Ultimate TVR Shootout at Pod though, the last one was a good laugh.

I would wear a helmet whether the 'rules' say so or not.
We are in soft top fibreglass sports cars and accidents do happen.
