Have any Griff owners got a short girlfriend and if so how have you managed to make it possible for her to drive? My girlfriend is 5'2" but I am 6'4" so I can't move the runners forward as then I won't be able to drive it. Does anyone make longer runners? She frowns upon the booster seat option smile

Cheers,

Simon

you can adjust the pedals, there should be about 2" of thread behind each pedal where it bolts to the levers.

failing that buy her some platform shoes or relegate her to the passenger seat on a permanent basishehe

Of course I'm not in charge. Control is an illusion my friend.

The adjustment on the pedals is only on the accelerator and brake so far as I can see and not really an option if you just want to swap seats for a bit on a road trip. The clutch is still an issue any how.

Are you sure she will be able to dip the clutch in a Griff ?

That's the main reason Cliff sold his the Nonce yes

My ex G/F ( How i miss her still..... ) who was 5/4 , much to my regret, was unable to drive my first one, a 96 model. . i Tried moving pedals, but no where near enough movement on them.

That Griff had Cerb ? Seats.

But on my present one, i still dont think a shorter person could reach the pedals.

My 5'3" girlfriend doesn't have the strength to take the handbrake off so there's absolutely no chance of her ever driving it.

Are you sure yours can do the basics like manage the heavy steering, dip the clutch (as someone mentioned before) and operate the handbrake and heavy gear stick? It would seem silly to spend money getting her to reach the pedals if she isn't physically capable of driving it anyway - smaller, dainty women tend not to have much strength!

Assuming you need to get beyond the available adjustment you can buy extended pedals (I know Leven used to do them) - basically its a normal pedal set with a longer bit of threaded bar off the back of it. Either that or if you have a mate who can weld, just buy some threaded bar and DIY smile

Email Del for tips? Tubbs swears he's wider than Del's tall even 5' in his platform heels (no doubt Tubbs was reclining in his stilletos & fishnets BTW)

Just thinking out loud but could you make longer seat runners by welding a couple of sets together?

The problem with moving the seat any further forards is the distance fron the steering wheel gets a bit cosy - the only way to fix that is to recline the seat back, but if you are short then you find that your forward visibility gets marginalised quite quickly.

Re-drill the seat mount (4-bolts through glass fibre floor) 2 inches closer to the pedals/steering wheel. The seat usually only goes back until it meets the rear bulkhead/parcel shelf rather than the end of the runners!!

My wife is 5ft and the windscreen wiper cuts through her view from the passengers seat when the wipers have been used whilst on the move. There is no chance of her driving the Griff which is a positive in my eyes. The only solution I have ever seen that works is lots of cushions and booster brackets on the seat runners. I am thinking of fitting bodster brackets on the passenger seat for her.
