Front plate mounting

I need to remove the front number plate on the pre cat Griff. Has anyone done this and can they tell me, am I going to find a nut or something dropping through the bottom of the grill from some TVR typical inaccesible point behind the grill or is removing the plate and putting it back a nice simplt affair as it should be ?

Ive just removed mine from the front of a griff 500 which was stuck on by double sided tape. New one was fitted in the same way. zz

Not had mine off, originally they were stuck on with doublesided to keep the lines as smooth as poss, it's fairly thick GRP tho', so self tappers should hold it on ok. Keep that jack handy!

Should be two captive nuts glassed into the cross member. As long as they haven't been overtightened they should stay firm, so no probs unscrewing the plate.

Mine was stuck on with double sided tape with no evidence of screwholes.
Once I'd got the plate off I used a hairdryer to soften the tape for easy removal.

Mine was replaced by Peninsula and secured with velcro. Brilliant idea as I can remove it for track days!

Not necessarily... depends how the dealer fitted the plates and whether TVR glassed the captive nuts in place. Have to say, never seen them as all the cars I've had have been self tapped. Now I use one of those rubber plaster board fixings that squeezes up when done up.
