Brake Upgrades

I am thinking about a brake upgrade next year for my Griff 430 1992. I have seen so many companies offering differnt solutions at all different prices. A recent sales sheet I picked up from David Gerald TVR whilst at the NEC show was yet another. Can anyone from experience recommend any kit I should consider that does not cost telephone numbers? Try proper pads?i have wms kit, was under 500 for discs and pads and calipers, bolts and mounts.
fitted 20 mins per side
huge improvement over old brakes.
fit under 15 inch wheels, with a few mm to spare, so i dont think i could have gotten anything bigger brake wise in there. i'm a happy bunny

Then I suddenly & mysteriously stopped getting responses from Keri?
Strange really as I had sent photos of my wheels with Keri's templates offered up.
The templates for both of Keri's options (Profile A & B) proved the 300mm discs would fit fine under my 16" Imola front wheels.
Not sure why I never had an answer but the idea died there.
In the end I did a fluid change and brake bleed, saved a lot of money and carried on enjoying the car.
With new fluid & a hard pedal I decided the 260mm standard brakes are fine for what I use the car for.

Yep, done that. Went from 240mm to 282mm discs (Seirra Cosworth 2wd) and 887/888 (Granada Cosworth) calipers and brackets. Big improvement in brake feel and performance. Cost less than £200 for fleabay calipers and brand new discs / pads. The job took about 3 hours start to finish.There is a cost effective upgrade to Ford 887/888 calipers and 278mm (IIRC) at the front. With decent pads and discs, that should be OK for most people.

Mine fit behind standard 15" Gotti rims. Discs are 283mm. Haven't bothered with back ones yet, am going to wait to see what a decent set of tyres feels like first.

Another area that TVR should have given more development to !
I saw the Gerald kit at the NEC as well . Was it circa £1,200 Inc vat ? On My first Griff, a 96 500 , I just fitted new TVR Power discs and pads to the front only and she stopped Very well .
On my Current 98 500 , former Owner Steve Heath fitted a Willwood 4 pot calliper kit , which is a bit mickey mouse looking . It seems to lack power and needs a very hard shove to stop it . It also seems to have upset the balance and i suspect that a rear upgrade is needed .It's possible that the pads have glazed , so when I get a min I will change them and see if it has improved it at all .
I have heard good reports of Zeus . I recently spoke to them re an E Type Kit , they were very helpfull and that kit has a good reputation . Worth contacting them to see if they offer a Griff Upgrade .

I got the calipers and brackets from ebay - Ford Granada Cosworth casting no's 887 & 888. I rebuilt the calipers with repair kits.Discs are 2WD Sierra Cosworth. 4WD ones won't work.
Pads are Granada Cosworth to suit calipers.
Caliper bracket spacers - I used 1 x 12mm washer per attaching bolt. (Definately worth running a 12mm tap through the mounting holes to clean up the threads)
All new bits sourced from https://safe.brakeparts.co.uk/loadnew.html but there are loads of other people doing Ford parts on ebay.
Total cost was £220 ish, no special tools or skills needed IMHO. If you aren't bothered about brand name discs and pads it will get cheaper, but I reckoned at £220 it was still a bargain!

so far, they feel just fine, there isnt any noticabe change in the balance of the braking, but you do notice they really dont fade like the old brakes did, and you feel more confident braking harder, much later, as you know you are not going to find a dead pedal.
