The prices I can find for genuine old stock lucas rotor are getting silly, I suppose they must be running out by now.

Does anyone have good experience with others? I've tried intermotor ones which are cheap, but they tend to start running rough quite quickly.

Although the Lucas price is outrageous that is what I use. When removing the distributor cap (on a serp. engine at least) it is quite tricky to get the cap out from under the top hose, especially as at that point you can't see which way the rotor arm is facing. I found when using a non Lucas part that when the edge of the cap snagged the rotor arm it pulled the brass contact off, whereas I've never had this problem with the Lucas part.

They are getting silly but are the only ones which work properly so money well spent IMO. Save £15 and you have a car that will run rough and will get on your t1ts, and you'll end up buying an original embossed one anyway so bite the bullet.

Saying that I had a rouge Lucas rotor arm once. Found that the contact would lift out of its housing as it span. Well that's what I presumed as had probs before and when I checked it it was loose. Replaced it and all was ok. Replaced with new Lucas one and as others said wouldn't use anything else.
Can't you get them from land rover websites pretty cheap? Google is your friend smile

If there is sufficient demand for a quality aftermarket replacement maybe these guys could be interested in manufacturing Rover V8 / TVR V8 rotor arms. I use one on my MGB having given up on the cheap copies sold by the majority of the MG trade suppliers.

I would have thought there was more than enough demand. Not just from TVR owners but all the other cars that used the RV8 engine.

The lucas ones you;ve been buying, I've seen 2 types both sold as lucas;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-DRB195C-rotor-arm-...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-LUCAS-ROVER-V8-R...

They look totally different, and priced differently. I suppose the expensive one is the one to get?

What HH says - use a non-Lucas part at your peril. Cost me a lot of money to find out that the non-start was the non-Lucas arm. Ran fine for a few hundred miles, then just stopped.

But good point - what do all of the Land Rover drivers do?

The first (Lucas DRB195C) one appears more or less identical to the one sold by Racing Green TVR, including price.
I've not had any problems with the RG ones.
