dear all, i have a 1992 4.3 precat groff , can anybody tell me another way to gain entry into the boot, currently the button for opening the boot when operated does sounds as though it should open as you can hear the solenoid for the boot release operating , but the boot lid does not open..has anybody encountered / repaired this before...thanks for your help ,jim.

There are instructions in the owners manual. It's not advice that's readily published on the internet for obvious security reasons.

I have a 4.3 pre-cat and had a similar problem last year, but that turned out to be a duff solenoid. If yours is operating (as you said you could hear it) it could be that the actuator has come away from the latch mechanism. Another reason could be that the boot is down too tight and cannot release itself. Try getting someone to press the release button whilst you press down on the boot lid, it may work. Otherwise there is a method of manually releasing the boot, but not to be discussed in open forum. Regards, Pete

If you can show someone some proof of ownership such as a scanned V5 I'm sure we could help. We're protecting your vehicles security too smile
