Me too!!

I was at Racing Green today and sneeked a look under a bonnet and noticed a bar between the two rollers that ease the bonnet into the nose cone (this is missing on mine). I 've got a feeling the stay attaches to that and the base plate on the nearside inner wing..........but I'm just guessing.........I too could do with a pic.

I know there are mods out there for the bonnet stay.

Are you sure they havent put it in the boot, quite common practice.
The cross memeber must be on the underside of the bonnet still as it has the rollers attached either end to guide the bonnet.
Basically the stay goes from the middle of this cross memeber to a clip on the uderside of the bonnet when stored. Then to use it goes to a Steel plate that is situate near the airflow meter on the nearside inner wing.BEWARE, it gets Firkin hot, thats why some people keep them in the boot, as they can be detached very easy.

Go HERE and type in Bonnet stay in the search window, you will find the bonnet stay parts there.

No ball joint on mine.

One end fits through the hole in the middle of the bar that holds the rollers on the bonnet. The other end has an L shape for scratching the stickers off the nearside wing.

the bonnet stay is this shape

____
````|________________________________________|
This end fits to This end clips
the roller bar into the L-slot
when the
bonnet is up
On the left hand end is a rubber cap to stop the stay slipping out of the hole in the roller bar.
I wedge my stay in above the fuel tank in the boot. Perhaps yours has slipped down behind the carpet?
BTW: Ignore the ```` at the left hand side. Had to do those to get the picture right!
Old64er, I can supply a prop because I have replaced mine with one of David "ModWise" Beer's improved jobbies! You will need to have the cross-bar between the guide wheels though. Have you got this? Rich...
Yes
I think it did.
I did it to try and stop some heat soak to the alternator which it appears to have done. When I get change I'll remove the manifolds and do the lot. Think I'll leave the Y piece alone but may do the bit next to the gearbox under the car. Apparently heat soak off this bit degrades the gearbox oil quicker too.
Get along to B&Q - they have a good selection of quality anodised ally rods, tubes and other sections. I used some to reinforce mine.
