aaargh! timewaster!!

advertised my griff on pistonheads and autotrader and had loads of interest.a few people came to see it but i couldn`t believe some of the questions i was asked,for example:in the two years you have owned it has it EVER let you down?,why is there a bit of wind noise above 100mph? but my favourite comment was "i think it`s too fast!!" .anyway,i took a deposit on it ten days ago and spoke to the buyer a few times since and it`s all on for collecting tuesday.after he didn`t show up my wife called him and asked what was happening,only to be told the money was in the bank but he wouldn`t get it till wednesday.no problem,but as he didn`t ring we tried him again today,and he said he`d ring back later.when my wife eventually got hold of him after trying several times,he admitted he didn`t have the money to buy it!!then stop wasting my time,buddy!
You wouldn't be the Blue, 23K miles '97 P Griff 500 that's for sale on Autotrader, would you?

I've put a deposit down on another Griff, since, but it's costing me £3.5K more than you were asking!

I showed the around my car at last nights TVRCC meet in Hampshire. Not that Im selling, but because they wanted to know a few things about Griffs.

Amazing isn't it!
I have advertised mine for about three-four weeks on PH and two weeks on Autotrader. Haven't had many enquiries - one serious contender but we didn't agree on price. That was partly because not only am I not desperate to sell, but I have been having cold feet about parting with it!!! Every time i tell someone about how wonderful a TVR is I sort of melt a bit round the edges and go a bit misty - definitely a heart thing, living with a TVR!!!!
The funniest one was the chap who rang up and said he was going to see his first Griff that day, was mine still for sale because if he didn't buy that one, he'd be down to see me tomorrow. I asked when he had started looking "this week - but I've made my mind up and I'm going to buy one this week" - in fact I've had other calls a bit like that, but only one so definite! I didn't hear from him again.....
I've been happy to talk with and e-mail several genuinely interested people, if only to give them a bit of feedback of what to look for and expect - and I've "met" some nice people that way! One of the reasons I took mine off the market was that I am thinking of doing a p/ex when I see the right Tuscan and have told a couple of the independents that "they can take all the hassle from any tyre kickers"!!!
In truth no-one has been at all bad, though!
(May still consider a private buyer even though it's not up on PH adverts at the moment by the way

Why - it takes so little for these cars to become "uneconomical to repair" that a fairly minor bounce, if you manage to ding enough body parts will easily leave you a £12k+ insurance bill.
Mine was a CatD, but passed a certified Autolign inspection with flying colours. The car is straight as a die, goes like stink, sounds glorious, looks gorgeous and i can't wait to razz it over the Alps in September
When (if I can bear to) I put it up for sale after EuroHoon it will be a sad day
