Was looking at the sad old Vauxhall key I have to start the car and was wondering if there was anything 'nicer' that could take it's place (I know....I need a life...).

Not sure yet, but maybe something in CNC aluminium or CF with a TVR logo in it...

Before I got started, just wanted to confirm what type of key people have. (Please ignore the plastic - just the metal blade to match against your own).

My key is 'Style 1' - 1994 'M' Reg car. I recently replaced the (very) old original alarm system - not sure how many Griffiths were produced with the integrated META alram key fob - or what year this started.

Any way, thanks in advance to those who vote on the poll, will come back with some ideas. Or open to suggestions if anyone is feeling arty!!

This sounds like a fine idea as my key looks extremely cheap. I thought my key was from the Ford parts bin and it doesn't look immediately like any of the ones you pictured but it's at home so I'll check later.

That's the same as I have (Style 1) - should have mentioned to ignore the plastic part - just the blade that's important really.

Think that most people on here will have that. My old 500 even had the Opel badge on the plastic bit hehe

I have the lovely Opel/Vauxhall key, with bar as per style one.

I am tempted to update my fob to the M252 Meta Remote Key. I just have the HPA fob (small blue) for my boot release already.

Mine the same. Got a blank from Vauxhall (a Cavalier) cut by Simpsons. It works.

I think I have style 1 on my '92 Griff.

I say I think as its difficult to tell because the key is cut right to the point.

I have a Selca alarm, is this a replacement then?

Spoke to Leven years back suggesting that they made a smart ali key for us,can't remember why they said they couldn't do it
Leven used to be a 'bit' difficult. But new ownership now, and they may be more open to ideas?

Style 1 ...with Opel logo embossed into the plastic frown and a separate fob for the original alarm.

I've read about cutting most of the plastic off the key and then mounting it inside the fob, effectively converting style 1 to style 3... but don't fancy butchering either/both.

I'd be interested in style 3 key blanks with integral fob if they can be easily programmed for my car or will accept the innards of my existing fobs.

Equally I'd interested in a couple of style 1 billet key blanks with a TVR logo.

Cheers
Dave

First impressions. Either a two piece Carbon Fibre jobby, or a custom injection moulded version - let me know your thoughts.....

(I am not taking the benefit for the CAD on this - respect must go to the same guy who helped with the reflectors, I would be lucky if I could draw a 3D brick in CAD!!!)
