Factory Stereo Head Unit
Discussion
I have the car booked in to have dashboard turned back to the original Wallnut veneer.
I am concerned that my current stereo head unit may look out of place, perhaps a bit too modern against the wallnut, I am therefore considering re-fitting an original OEM unit. I saw a few cars at the growl still with the original Pioneer tape players and I thought they looked better than a CD player.
Does anyone know the model number of the original units fitted at the factory?

Hi Matt, great choice, its walnut for me every time. I was so pleased that my 4.3 came with a walnut dash. Please post some pics of the finished job. Hi Pete, I do quite like the turned dash in mine but I have come to the conclusion that a walnut burr dash is the way forward. I went up to see David Batty yesterday and he has picked out a particularly lovely piece of dark walnut burr with a nice deep gain. It is very similar to the quality veener seen in old Rovers and Bentleys. Should hopefully look very nice when fitted. The only outstanding concerns I have is the Nardi steering wheel being slightly lighter in colour and the stereo head unit looking a bit out of place.
I will post a thread when complete as I am also getting the suspension and brakes worked on.

To be honest I expect TVR would fit whatever unit you cared to specify although as standard they fitted the Pioneer range. I bought my Griff new in '99 and had an upgraded amp, 6 x CD changer and extra speakers. Below is a pic of my dash with the Pioneer unit fitted plus a few leven alloy bits. You could just get a pioneer head unit from the correct year for your car.

Hi Richard, thanks for the info and pic. now that is interesting as mine is a 1999 car as well so there is a good chance it would have had the same head unit as yours fitted. I note the V8GRF has the same headunit in his late Griff. Do you know what the model number is?I might see if I can source one of them. Either that or I may see if I can get old Nakamichi CD-500 as they look kind of OEM.
