Hi guys,

How is everyone holding their dash air vents to the flexible pipes behind the dash. The one to the right hand side of my stereo keeps popping off, it doesn't really do anything anyway but it keeps pushing the vent out of the dash.

Thanks in advance

p.s. was going to get it out of the garage in the nice mild weather that we are having but looks like its on the turn again :-(

A few turns of masking tape on the end of the flex pipe until it becomes a good fit into the duct. It's a bit disheartening to see regular plastic domestic waste pipe being used by the factory, but I guess that it was cheap to obtain at the time.

I tend to use cloth tape instead of insulating (PVC) /gaffer tape nowadays. I found that insulating tape tends to get brittle and stretch, and both gaffer and insulating tape adhesive leaves a very sticky mess after removal. Cloth tape sticks and remains felxible to an extent.

Sometimes referred to as fleece/harness tape - but usually easy to find on fleabay or pickup at vehicle electrical suppliers.

I made up these fibreglass boots using the dash air-vent as a mould. They never come loose and don't rattle like the original fittings. Moreover they don't leak and blow hot air over the back of the dash which may lift the veneer in time.

Use the cut-off ends of the ali. tubes to fit into the airbox. at the dash ends use the plastic vents as a mould.
