Check the linkages in the hole hidden behind the carpet above the seatbelt.
You don't have the David Beer boot opener do you? I've known the sensor for that to move and cause problems with the linkages.
No D Beer boot opener - it's pretty original under there - will check the linkages. Wasn't sure where to start looking as I couldn't find the info in the 'bible'. You don't have the David Beer boot opener do you? I've known the sensor for that to move and cause problems with the linkages.
Thanks.
Not sure if these two photos help, but you can see the 'linkage' for the external opener - which is just a solid metal rod about 2-3mm thick.
One explanation that may help is that the two methods of opening act in two differents ways.
1) The internal handle will open the door even if the mechanism is locked (i.e. the central locking is on)
2) If the doors are locked the external button will just push down and not unlock anything.
My guess would be that maybe you door locking solenoid was not working correctly, but is now - check the wiring loom - you might just need to disconnect and reconnect a few times amdf squirt on some WD40 to clean up the contacts. It's the white 5 way connector in the bottom photograph.
Ignore the additional solenoid and microswitch in my photos - tinkering with a wing mirror switch opening idea at the moment as the wife keeps hurting her fingernails opening the door!!

I have experienced a similar problem. The micoswitch at the bottom of the door is liable to fail due to corrosion, the
door then remains locked. You can try cleaning the contacts but replacement is a better option, only a few £s each.
Best to replace both sides.

door courtesy light switch was duff. its a vauxhall part and only a few pounds. I found mine on e-bay. I think the Vauxhall part number is 90210575 and theyre something like £8 from a dealerEdited by The AJP Griff on Sunday 19th February 12:20
