That's rediculous. There's plenty of insurance companies that will let you top up your mileage limit during the year, if you need to. They just charge you an additional premium.

Tell them you are not prepared to leave the car sitting in the garage and if they won't budge go to another insurance company. Who is it, by the way?

Do what angus faldo says. I would too.

Do they already have all your money?

Unfortunately, as some of you may know, I had that incident with the Handbrake and that is the reason they wont renew it during the policy period. They said if I wait until 3 months before the 1 year is up they would do it.

However, thats another 5 months away!! and August in Germany will be sunshine galore I hope!!

KGM Lloyds Classic Line....!!!

Not really. On a limited mileage policy you insure for x000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. If you want to do more miles that year, over your limit, you take out another limited mileage policy (I assume your existing company will let you do that, as opposed to merely 'topping up'), and kick yourself for not going for a higher mileage limit in the first place.

When we bought Wol, based on the milage that our bikes cover, we thought 5000 per year would be ample. However, the grin is so addictive that our 5000 miles expired nearly a month ago. Pearts, who we are insured with, changed us to unlimited mileage on the policy, no fuss, total cost? £45. Thanks very much, no trouble, no hassle, just done. That's how it should be, IMHO. Very pleased.

Just take it easy and pay for anything you bend/crack.

Not being funny Simpo, but I doubt very much if he would want to pay for a bent or cracked person.

A friend of my family was ruined for life after 3 people died in an accident in his car, one of which was my great uncle, the insurance company refused to pay up, now get this, because the house number was incorrect on his policy!

Id preferably go for a person with a two cracks if given the choice. There are some that prefer bent people though. Lets not exclude them from PH

Can't you just cancel your policy and take your NCB elsewhere?

Within reasonable limits, the most likely thing to go wrong is to be pulled over by the law for some reason. In that case he takes his Insurance papers to the local nick and they will be accepted.

The alternative is to cow to the fear factor and stay in bed.

Now that is ridiculous.

You can't insure one car on two concurrent policies, but you ought to be able to cancel one policy and start another. Ask them what happens if you reach your 5k limit 10 miles from home. Are you supposed to park up, walk home and leave the car there until the policy runs out?!

OK everybody........you seem to missing the point.

Buy another speedo, 'doctor' it to close to the real mileage, swap as neccessary, 'doctor' original below limit, continue adinfinitum(total spelling guess),two fingered salute to the insurance company............it works with my Gas Meter

Or just claim you've done a lot of track days - where of course your insurance cover didn't apply...
