Knocking noise
Discussion
I've been driving my Griff pretty hard lately (although still letting it warm up prior to this) and the last couple of days i've noticed a noise coming from the rear diff area.
The noise is a clonking noise (bearable but i can tell it's there)and does it when the drivetrain shunts at low speed (when on and off light throttle).
I'm unable to get under the car at the moment and was wondering if anyone may have had the same experience. Is it an internal diff problem or does it sound like the symtoms of a worn diff mount?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

sounds like it could be the top Diff bush had mine done two weeks ago. if it clonks on pull away and when you start to reverse sounds like the noise I had apparently will never course major breakdown but dont do any traffic light Grand Prix starts and get it done, as its not going to go away and will only get worse !

I agree, def sounds like the diff top bush. A cheap repair but a real b'stard to do.
Thanks for ideas. I hope it is the mount.
I'm on the German Austrian border at the moment and won't be coming home until early August. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope I don't have to use that AA cover I took out! I wish I was at home and could take a proper look at it.

Dave,
after the Growl, maybe we can meet up I'm not far from you, and we could compare noises... Had mine now for a while, but no-one can find anything wrong with it... Not the bushes, shocks, or anti-rollbar mounts... Those are the normal things... apparently.
BTW, have you spoken to Sautter TVR in ULM? He may be able to help, apparently quite capable.

Mine's exactly the same - clunk/creak as the drivetrain takes up power in first/reverse. CV Joints been replaced, and checked driveshafts. All new suspension made no difference one way or the other so it's not that either. Going in to a transmission specialist for diagnostics hopefully later this week (my work allowing). Will report back.
