On my Griff if the fuel nozzel isn't fully seated in the filler then it does spit quite badly. Try moving the pump nozzel around while filling. Basicaly the hole that you fill also vents air if you fill too quickly and don't have the pump fully seated so fuel is "blown" back out the filler. Push it in further and slow it down a bit!! HMMMM !!!!

I get exactly the same as Biggles. Always done it, either spurts out or the pump clicks off thinking it's full.
Try only putting the nozel in 1/2 way, or turning the nozel 45 degrees anti clockwise. It seems to sit better then. Mind you don't scratch the boot lid with the finger guard when turning it though.

Hi there, had the same with my Griff (1992 4.3) when I first got it. I take it easier now with the nozzle just out of the filler so I can se the flow into the tank. I think that I used to fuss it in expecting the nozzle cut out to work like on my other cars, wrong! Have no problem at all now, can see when it is filling up to the top and stop it. All the best, Pete
