Different rear lights.

Having now seen the smoked rear lights on the Red Griff that Jamer had (at PF'04) Id really like some.


Anyone know where to get them?

The smoked ones were off the GSI so best get youself down a scrappy, not too many about now me thinks.

The smoked ones on that site arent too bad, but dont like the oblonge lights in it that much. Hard to say until its on the car, must admit the silver lexus ones that i have seen on a Chimeara looked awful. all IMHO though

Easiest option is to spray them up with tinted-light-paint - just a mix of black and lacquer. I've done it on some Corrado back lights, and as long as you don't overdo it, it'll still let the light thru. Good thing about the Griff is if you cock it up, a pair of standard lights is bugger-all from the scrappers!

If your going down the rout of spraying the rear lenses polish out all of the lettering on the lenses and do not put more than 2 coats on , seen it done looks ok, thinking about it myself

If you want to spray them I find that the spray leaves the light with a bit of a matt finish, for best results heat the unit up with a hairdryer to seperate the lens and then spray several light coats on the inside, reseal and fit for that factory look!

Dusty I have a LH-side one... mine had smoked ones but the Drivers side got well....damaged...

The lights on that red griff (shown in first post) arent really all that dark but they have clear indicator lenses making them look a lot more up to date.

I quite like the afterburner ones on the Zertec site (p6), but it's difficult to tell what it looks like from such a small pic.

Re the smoked lights, I got one from a Vauxhall/GM dealer - just took the old (cracked) one in and asked for a replacement. Mind you that was about 2000. Don't forget you have to turn them upside down!

You can also get tinted film from place like Demon Tweeks.

The clips inside top and bottom aren't very good on ours - guess its the amount of time they have been out fiddling with the damn things when the lights keep failing - they are smoked lenses.
I spoke to one agent (not main dealer) who told me they were discontinued. Spoke to a main delaer who said he could get them but are £64+VAT each!!!!!!!.
The standard ones were £34.
Not sure if you would be lucky enough to find a GSi in the breakers.
If anyone does and the clips inside (the lens and the bulb holders) are good then please let me know as I would be very interested.
I need to get them to Jason before the full respray (approx 4 weeks).
