Quick questions - oil leak and exhaust gasket
Discussion
would not normally ask these questions as I would have found them by searching…
Just had the MOT and it passed
with a few advisories, first oil leak from the middle to the back of the block… which is not very helpful I did notice that there was a leak late last summer on the sump gasket and re tightened all of the nuts up as per manual (order and torque) there is very little loss i.e. a few drips ovee the winter on the garage floor so very minor and not loosing any oil on a 150 mile run last weekend is there anywhere worth checking on the engine apart from the sump? That can be prone to leaks?
Secondly the exhaust gasket is leaking from the block, from what I have heard this can be a real pain to do so worth leaving to the experts – Central TVR is close to me and I don’t think charge too much less than £100. First question is it one of those jobs that can 1 take ages to do and if you are not careful generate other issues e.g. cracked exhaust etc Secondly do you need to do both sides or just one (if only one leaks)? I normally do all of my own work but this job has PAIN written all over it.
Thanks in advance

I changed my drives side manifold gasket on Saturday. Very fiddly job but refitting can be made easier if you slot the bottom four holes in the manifold so you can have the four bottom bolts already in the head loose and holding the gasket. I was told this after I had struggled with mine.
