Track day - exhaust problem

Have had the pre cats removed and the noise, I think, will now be too loud for 2 track days I've planned. Can anyone advise how to get round the problem. Thanks a lot.

Speak to Tim at ACT as he advertises trackday silencers - also think I've seen some for hire in the back of Sprint? I also saw an intersting creation on a blue taz that Jools at Joospeed had knocked up, sorry, engineered to the highest specification. He might be worth a try.

peninsula will do a pair that drop around 5db.

also merlin motorsport at about 5db. (3" pipes)

if you've only removed the precats, it should still stay under 100db which is ok for most. a set of track silencers is a very good idea, particularly if your of to good wood or castle coombe.

I've just been nosing about the Book-a-Track website and I see that they will hire you a noise meter for £9 (including P&P both ways). Sounds like money well spent to me if it avoids a dissapointing early ride home!

True, but I think noise testing is about as accurate as rolling road figures - there are many variables and just because you measure yourself at 95db, say, doesn't guarantee that when you get to the track, they don't measure you at over 100.

Yep...thats true, but if your own measurement was high then you get the oppurtunity to do something about it (or cancel the quiet trackday)

Very true.
I have done 2 measurements at 3/4 revs
First was 96 dbs and then on a different day/location/meter it was 99 dbs

the literature for the trackday should give you the figure
but from memory, pembury is 105 at 1/2 metre, if u still have full silencer in the exhaust i think u will be fine without pre - cat there.

Tim Lamont at ACT was doing a service where he would mail add-on silencers to you for the weekend, if u chose to send them back it was £10 hire, if you kept them you'd bought them for about £90
