Sorry I have no idea what it is then but if you figure out how to get the door trim off to have a look let me know.
It's a problem even this bloke may have struggled with. I found the nut through the speaker hole and the screw behind the reflector but it won't move. Feels like something behind the cig-lighter is holding it too.

From memory as I took mine off a while ago ther are 2 nuts holding it, one further along from the other!
Around the edge there are 'normal' plastic plugs that you find on any car door trim and there may be the odd self-taper if any of the plastic plugs failed to work.............remember of course mine is an early one and they may of changed later.
The pipe thing is odd - there is an adjuster for the height of travel for the window which veiwed from the top might look like a pipe, the window travels up 2 pipes about 30mm apart. Does it only do it when the targa panel is off?? As the front ali window channel may be worn at the top and the window rising more than it would with the targa panel on.

No. It pops up whenever it wants.

The pipe is similar to that, just to give you an idea of what it is like.
I took my door trim off a couple of months ago.
Remove the speaker grill. There were three bolts moulded into the fibreglass panel, whose nuts need to be removed. Then remove the reflactor and unscrew the screw behind that. The arm rest should lift off the door.
To remove the main panel, pull out the ashtray and there's a screw behind that and I think another couple behind teh arm rest you've just removed.
It's explained in the bible, and is a bit awkward, but achievable with normal hand tools.

It is explained in the bible but it only mentions one nut for the armrest where as there were 3 spaced along the length on mine.
Hey, its a bible, not a manual. Everyone knows they are not to be interpreted literally.

If its like clear washer tubing it might be from inside the rubber seal that runs along the top of door on the outside.
The seals are hollow and sometimes the tubing is put inside to stop the seal compressing and being less effective.

I would agree - I've just been to the trimmer and look closely at the stripped door and there isn't any pipe whatsoever - so it must be after market.
