Had The chance to put my Griff on a Rolling Road yesterday at Neil Garners Open Day in the Cotswolds. Thanks North Lndon Dyno Centre.

Now the reason I ask .... As I was mighty surprised with my figure of over 300 BHP yesterday. We have all heard it before, TVR's official figure for the Griffith 500 was 320 and many people on here believe that figure is wide off the mark especially when a figure of 280 is more common. So I was quite amazed to say the least that I got a figure of 304 BHP for my 1995 year old per serp Griff And also was told that my Griff was the best one during the days event for torque figures. Well chuffed!

So what BHP figure are you guys getting out of your 500's?

Hi paul
Did my griff 430 sat as well, thanks to the guys of north london dyno as I was quite apprehensive about it,
Mine made 289.7 bhp not bad for the little brother of the 500 griff

all rolling roads are subjective... good if you want to compare back to back to see what upgrades/tweaking can achieve....

ideally if you want to compare with others you all need to use the same road so no arguements about roads reading high etc.......

even so good figures, any graphs as they give more of a talking point smile

and for what it's worth mine was last dyno'd at 282bhp...... following engine rebuild, and mapping

The chim 400 before me made 197 bhp and a chim 450 made about 245 ish, then a couple of griff 500 made around the 300 mark so quite a broad spectrum really not everybody got good figures.
But was happy nether the less, acurate or not,was a good laugh

Oh ok. Just read as though everyone was getting great figures. Clearly some excellent engines around to be proud of.

No idea what my '97 500 HC produces and would like to know what it's meant to put out. Anyone know?

It has been running really rough with usual bad habits like shunting, erratic tickover and not firing properly so I did all the obvious checks like stepper motor, new plugs etc but could see I was on the slippery slope of replacing all sorts of bits in a process of elimination.
So I took it to an engine whisperer, Dave Young at Mek Motorsport in Cheltenham dave@mekmotorsport.co.uk (07711 896878)who knows TVR's well and specialises in tuning performane engines with his own rolling road too.
He did a full diagnostic health check in both hot and cold start conditions which revealed several faults which he corrected and the only replacement needed was 1 spark plug!
For a small outlay, the car has been transformed from a real S.O.B to a well behaved but potent machine so I didn't see the point in paying extra to put in on the rollers as it's plenty fast enough thank you!

How much is a small outlay? Did you leave the car with him or can he do while you wait? Thanks, PAul.
