Griffith 500 - Warped Speedo Face :-(
Discussion
After my recent battle to glue back the push button switches on my Griff dash I now have a new nightmare!
With the dash all replaced and thinking all was well I noticed the face of the speedo (as pictured) has bulged out in the area highlighted. Its actually trapping the needle - although only tested trundling around at about 10mph.
Now I don't know if I caused it when I was replacing the dash - if I did I don't know how it's a sealed unit - my speedo has a 3 pin plug and two bulb holder ports - that's it.
My only other theory is that it was a sunny day and the dash had not seen sunlight for a while - is this a possible cause?
Anyone know what I can do to try and fix this? I've resigned myself to the fact the dash will have to come out again even though I didn't want to - but I may MOT the car first - to my knowledge a working speedo is not tested on MOT.
Any suggestions gratefully considered.

oh and you can see the back of the speedo while the dash was out below

Had exactly the same problem with mine, the dials were black, so was a little more severe.
My car is a 1994, and the dials are 100mm/60mm and later changed to 80/52 I think.
I bit the bullet in the end and purchased a new speedo and rev counter from ETB. When I spoke to them on the phone they explained these particular instruments were some TVR purchased from BL (or something like that - my memory fails me) as a one off, and weren't brilliant quality.
Might be worth giving them a call. Taking the speedo apart is a bit of a delicate operation, and I couldn't get hold of a replacement dial (hence going for a new set).

It is possible to get the surround off so that you can remove the glass and get access to the face. If you remove the speedo and GENTLY slide around the back of the rim with a thin flat blade screw driver, you will untighten it enough for it to come away. Once you have effected your fix to the face the rim and glass should push back on tightly enough. I did this when I first got my car to repaint the dial surrounds, before I ended up replacing them.

Thank you for that - looks like the poor dash is going to have to come out again this morning
