I'm starting to pull my hair out (well I would do if I had any!!!).
It's Friday afternoon - 16:20 - last day of work before 2 weeks hols.
Lots of time for Grif related fixes. But I've got a job that must be done 'after 17:00 today' GGRRRRR.
Normally I'd be home already.
Anybody doing anything spectacular this weekend????

No, but you do get covered in black water if you overfill the boiler slightly, then go downhill!

Are you talking about the front light lenses or something different??? As I've just (and am still in the process of) fitting new clear lenses to my pre-cat griff. One thing I did notice was the lenses didn't look like they were going to fit until I trimmed the excess off - they seemed too curved/concave until I trimmed them and then I fixed oneside with selftappers and slightly stretched the lense before self tappering the other side. After that I sealed them.
Oh I'm home now and ready to Grifffff!!!!!!!!!!!

OK - if the are the same as the clear fella's they are too big and need cutting/trimming to match your fibreglass light pod.
To remove the whole light pod you need to get in through the access plate in the wheel arch and disconnect the rear 'stay'.
Around to the front and break away the light pod from it's silicon bonding - pushing, teasing etc. Twist same and remove light pod from from of car.
Remove old lenses from the light pod - mine had 4 small self tapers North, South, East and West - use a stanley to cut silicon sealant and take away lens.
Use this lens as a template and mark the new one's.
I used a hacksaw to trim the perspex, I didn't try and follow the line/profile accurately, I chopped it off in a series of straight cuts and went back again and again until I achieved the correct profile.
Dry fit lens to light pod and if it was like mine the new one looked too concave and looked as if it needed stretching - at this point I concidered warming it up in the oven but I wasn't sure how the perpex would react, I also considered trying it with the old lenses 1st as a test run.
I was going to apply the sealant at this stage and then fit lens to the light pod but as I had to stretch it I decided to do it at the end. As the original holes in the fibreglass looked worn I decided to drill the new holes in different places, I made 8 holes in the lens and countersunk same as I thought this would help in streching the lens - I only made about 3 holes in the light pod on 1 side, connected these with self tappers, pushed down on the lens to stretch it and then made the other 5 holes.
When complete I siliconed the edges to stop moisture getting in.
Don't forget to clean inside of lens and light pod completely and check that the water drain pipe is clear and in the right place i.e how far it's pushed through - so that any moisture will drain away.
BE CAREFULLY HACKSAWING, I'VE COMPLETED ONE AND I AM 75% THROUGH THE NEXT AND HAVE CAUSED A SMALL SPLIT DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE I PUT ON!!!
IF YOU DON'T NEED TO TRIM, IF YOU CAN GET THE CONTOURS TO MATCH UP AND IT WILL HAVE ENOUGH CLEARANCE TO FIT IN PLACE DON'T TRIM IT!!!! [/B]

Thanks mate, i have a band saw to cut the perspex
however, is the stay a pice of metal about 3" long with 3/4 holes init ? also how do you get the whole pod through the wheel arch? when looking through the engine bay alongside of the radiator it seems the pod overlaps the body work? do you have to cut the sealer on the outside first and then twist it sideways to drawitout from the front:

Above should of remove from FRONT of car, it won't come out of the access hole it's too big. The 'stay' is a metal bar that attatches just below the access hole and connects to the rear of the light pod, take off the nut and then the pod is only held in place by the sealant around the lens.
Perspex is a funny substance, it must be quite dense as when I drilled it the drill tends to 'grab' and I take out more than I bargained for!!!! so be carefull. If you have different saw blades for the band saw I would suggest that you use the one with the biggest teeth, as this should have the greater clearances and therefore won't grab as much.........there are many rules regarding these clearances and what materials you are cutting....did a bit of this at college!!
