Ive looked at a few sites and the cheapest second hand engine I can find for a 500 Griff serpintine around 97 is 4000 pounds and they wany VAT on that I am looking for one as a project but really didn't want to pay the best part of 4 1/2 grand
anyone know where to look

Tried RPI or V8 Developments? They will give you a fair price. Its always tempting to up the spec while you're at it though and this can quickly push the price up.

Edited to say if you can keep the front end and ancilliaries from an existing engine it will be a lot cheaper.

Have you tried a breakers? I recently got a gearbox & had it completely rebuilt with uprated bearings/ syncromesh etc for less than half what it would have cost for a new unit.

TVR Power do the Taraka (whatever) which includes a rebuild for £2500ish.
if you can get an engine from a scrap yeard then this would be an ideal way to have it rebuilt and upgraded in one go.

Because the chim has a longer arse...it takes us a couple of micro seconds longer to get from the car to the keyboard
