A touch of OCD with my wheels?
Discussion
I bought some wheels last year for my Griff and I only got around to cleaning them ready to fit today. But I didn't really look very closely when I bought them, spot the difference:

No, not the fact the rears are 17 inch and the fronts are 16 - that part was planned. The two 17 inch rears (on the left) are BBS (I think they are BBS not OZ) split rims but the front two (on the right) are copies (non/splits). On the plus side they are the correct 4 stud ones and have near new T1R's on so I didn't make a complete balls up.
So, do I just fit'em and see if I can live with them or accept the fact I do have a touch of OCD and find a new set of four splits (or try to find just two 16inch fronts I guess)?

You could be right - certainly won't notice when the car is moving.carsy said:

Yeah, I do like the look of them, perhaps I will chill out about them.SILICONEKID340HP said:

F**K it - they are going in the classifieds!
...I suppose the sensible thing to do it to put them on at least until I have worn out the near new T1R's. Then after selling the wheels if I can't live with them I won't have lost much money.
...But they do look slightly different...AARRGGHHHH!!!!

Tim, do you want your black team dynamics back :-) I haven't got the same OCD problem so I would be happy to put those wheels on my car. I thought I'd seen a picture of them on your griff just after you got them?
I never knew I had any black team dynamics - must be another Tim on here.I did post a pic of BBS wheels on a car that looked identical to mine when I was looking for them to show people what I was looking for. That was before I got these. Then a cracked radiator followed by some work/travel and a s
te winter meant the car only really came back out of hibernation last month. Then a stone when through another radiator which I have now replaced again and I finally got around to un-packaging the wheels to fit to my car. Perhaps I should just drink more beer and drive my car more (not at the same time - I don't think that would help at all). My MOT is coming up and I have covered embarrassingly few miles this year.
I will have a think about my wheels - I could always fit them to my car and put them in the classifieds. If they sell then I haven't lost anything and if they don't perhaps I will not think they look so bad once they are on.

No problem Lester - in fact your input has been very helpful. The reason why I couldn't decide if my split rims were BBS or OZ was because they looked slightly different (but close) to both. It turns out they are neither, after reading the thread you linked to somebody mentioned Compomotive CXN's. A quick look for some pics and they match exactly. Here is a pic off the www.comomotive.at web site, if you compare these to the 17" rear on the left of the pic I posted they are identical:His griff and wheels are in this thread

And, after checking mine again this morning I saw this (I don't know why I missed it before):

So all I need now is a pair of Compomotive CXN 16" rims with the correct 4 stud Griffith fit. Off to the internet, wish me luck.

If I was a betting man, I would say those were the wheels I got together for my old Griff. The car has changed hands at least twice since my tenure, so there's a good chance the wheels were sold on.

Sorry to put a downer on it, but you could well be the luckiest man on the planet if you manage to find a pair of 16" CXNs for sale. I spoke to Compomotive at length, and there was no chance - they were discontinued as an unpopular size.
Actually, although I say that, this was nearly 3 years ago so I wouldn't rule it out - this style of wheel has really shot back into popularity, especially with the Dub Scene. It may be worth getting in touch with them - you never know?
The 4-stud CXNs were also used on some of the top show-car Sierra Cosworth 3-doors (front wheels). Again, you have very little chance of an owner of such a car giving them up.
I bought the 17" CXN wheels without really researching where I would find the 16" fronts, after seeing this pic in the PH sales one day:
I loved the look and still do.
At the time (and probably now, even - I haven't checked) you could see pics and supposed availability on the Compomotive website. I did annoy me a wee bit that they turned out NOT to be available.
The Lenso BSX one-piece jobs weren't my first choice, therefore, but after weeks of looking I gave up scouring the obscure Ford and Compomotive links all over the internet.
After I posted my pic in the forum linked above, I had some positive comments and questions PM'd to me, away from the forum.
Everyone said they couldn't tell the difference without really looking hard. And even then, everyone thought they looked good.
Get 'em on your car and see what you think!
PS If they WERE my old wheels, I ended up having to change the rear tyres for 245/40 17's
(45 profile were unavailable) as the 50 profile ones rubbed too much, though I personally preferred the fatter look.

Thanks for some background - you are right on all counts (sorry to cut up your post a little - just wanted to highlight the main points). I bought them off your old car from an owner after you that sold the car with the originals back on. I also spent a couple of hours yesterday evening scouring the internet but no joy - I think this could be a long search for some 16" CXN's. I have also contacted Compomotive as they do still show them on their site with the encouraging wording "Wheels are special order & very sorry are only available in limited offsets & widths." so we will see....

Looking at the picture of them on your car I think I wouldn't have noticed the difference either. They do look good and I am just going to fit them while I search for the front 16s.
The only thing I need is a spigot ring for one of the Lenso's (one is missing) and a quick polish up and they will be on.
Thanks,
Tim.
The one piece ones are cheap enough , available in 16 and 17" and correct offsets.

They will split sets and make any offset.

Lenso only supplied 16" wheels when I was looking a few years ago, but if the 17" had been available then, I would have sold on the Compomotives and had those instead.
Damn my poor timing! Those 17" rears with a deep-ish dish would look grrreat, IMHO.

They look pretty good. Would be a whole lot easier than trying to find a set of original OZ's!!

Thanks, for now though I will see how I get on with the Compomotive search. I am sure the one piece Chinese copies are absolutely fine (and I will have two on the front) but if I had the choice I would have a full set of Compomotives/BBS/OZ split rims. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17-FORD-GRANADA-EFI-4x4-...

The Cades Jadis look tempting though,

The only problem is the reaction when people see them on your car, if you look carefully in this video you can see the bronze SUV has one on the back and a few passer-bys have noticed:
