Reverse Light Switch

I bought my Griff privately about 2 weeks ago. The reverse light wasn't working, and the previous owner had already ordered a reverse gear detector switch thingy which was apparently faulty. He's forwarded that onto me, and it apparently "screws into the gearbox".

It's a lump of metal, with a spring-loaded ballbearing at one end, and 2 threaded terminals at the other.

Can someone please explain to me exactly where this should go? I've checked the bible but can't find a reference to it.

On a Rover box, it screws into a plate mounted just under the gear linkage mechanism accessed from under the car, to one side of the top of the gearbox. The spring loaded ball bearing is depressed by the action of moving the gear lever into reverse, this makes electrical contact between the two connectors on the switch. It's a fiddly job to replace, and then you need to adujst it by screwing it in or out, so that it comes on ONLY when it should.

T5 may not be identical, but the above may help you work out what the precise arrangement on the T5 is.
