Anyone tried different hood materials?
Discussion
Just a ponder at the moment but...
I tend to drive mine with the rear section up all the time as the plastic window doesn't really like being folded. Also the material of the rear section really isn't very waterproof, and as far as I can tell is simply a layer of cloth with some waterproofer applied to the outside (without water proofer when I go the car!).
This has started me thinking, has anyone ever considered, or tried, fitting a zip out glass rear window and swap the material for something more waterproof without the need for regular re-proofing? There have to be modern roof materials out there that look good and are waterproof and a zip out glass window would mean I could stop worrying about making a mess of the plastic one.

Think I remember some one having a zip out plastic window done, but with the search on here I doubt I'd find it.

I know, I looked at that and the phrase "can easily be stored in the Chimera's boot alongside the roof section". Somehow I figure that may not work in a Griff! Otherwise it does look like a nice idea as it also gives better rearward vision than folding down the rear softtop section.
You're right the rear section won't fit into the Griffs boot, Steve and I tried it in mine when I wrote an article on it for Sprint. This is my choice , only saw the pictures two weeks after i had mine re covered ..bad timing !

What is that hood siliconekid? I think I'm getting mine redone in the very near future and that looks great!
Ive seen one a few weeks ago ,drops down with ease and no stress on the clear plastic. There are a few variations ,The rear window on this is more square,I prefer the slight angle which follows the contour of the roof.
i would copy the first three pictures . Have a look at both cars and make your mind up .
Can you see where the plastic just clears the lever arms when in the down position ,that is perfect.
Print them off and take them to any decent trimmers ..
This guy is very good and he can do both rear windows
