Was reversing off the ramps after the clutch change and the glass front of the fuel gauge hit me in the lap. From the looks of it the plastic body of the gauge has broken just behind the glass.

Anyone know of a source of TVR gauges or what sort of glue to use to repair it? Racing green have one but in the wrong colour, white background.

All ideas welcome

Rob

In the meantime I'll fix the passenger door that won't stay closed...

It is a '95 500 with TVR branded gauges, not sure of the actual manufacturer. They have a black background and white text (the opposite of the photo of the one on Racing Green's parts website).

As far as I can tell the guts of the gauge is fine, it just the body that has failed.

I'm pretty sure if you take the gauge out you will be able to repair it.
They are usually a bezel crimped over a lip on the body with the glass sandwiched in-between.

If you do get it out and have a problem, photograph what you've got and post it here. Someone will be able to work out how to repair it.

Araldite does sound the best option as Barretti suggests.Caerbont make these gauges so you could get them to re-furb as they do offer this service. You could also ask Racing Green if they have a black faced one? I'm afraid my spare wont be worth the hassle as it's a yellow faced one, sorry.

Thanks all, I was thinking I'd try araldite if there were no other options, something to try this weekend.

Do you have the dimensions of the gauge and do you think you could transfer all the guts into another body?
I have the an old Land Rover fuel gauge which has a damaged internals that I just recently replaced if its any use to canibalise.

Or maybe someone else has something similar.

Had thought about this but consider it as a back-up option as I think that getting the right bezel is goning to be tricky. However, if glue fails to work and I have to put up with a wrong bezel to get the car back on the road then that will do for the short term and can sort it properly later.

Track v Road have a collection of gauges so they may have one if you need to find a replacement.

Maybe but I'd probably have to break off the glass/remains of the plastic body of the gauge. Racing Green parts (round the corner from me) have said that they can get it repaired but I'll try the cheaper option this weekend (araldite).
