So I've had the bad news - looks like rust has done it's worst and my Griff needs a chassis replacement. I'm still waiting on pictures, but it genuinely does sound that bad. I've had a trawl around here, and looked at other people's restorations but broadly what kind of costs might I be looking at, considering none of the work will be done by me? I'm anticipating there are other items that would be good to do with the body off, but other major things (say engine, diff, suspension) should be fine.

And can anyone point me towards a kind of definitive list of things to do? I'm not anticipating things like a respray, or reupholstering.

Thanks in advance.

Doing it myself, (easy, fun job, 12 weeks all spare hours), £5000 did it all including everything u might replace. Worth every penny.

Does it really need replacing? If it were just the outriggers you can buy them ready built which just need welding on to the backbone for £600 from RT Racing.

Not sure if it's only the outriggers that are shot, but the indy suggested a chassis replacement was a good idea. Still waiting for photos of the crime scene smile A large part of me is thinking I should just go the whole hog and get a full resto done - after all, I'm keeping it forever - but the smaller wallet part of me is hanging back.

there is a lot of difference between outrigger and whole chasssis replacement.

think you really need to decide if you want to spend an additional 2.5k, plus all the rebuild labour
