Hi,
My '98 Griff has developed a slight coolent leak somewhere at the very back of engine. It ends up dripping off the exhaust near the back of the gearbox - obviously running along a channel from somewhere further forward. Can't find anything damp inside the car around the heating pipes, and all the front/radiator hoses appear fine. Any suggestions on where to look much appreciated.
David.

Are you sure it's coolant? There is a plastic tube which drains the bulkhead and this discharges over the bellhousing, the water could then run towards the rear of the gearbox.

If you are sure it's coolant then check that an inlet manifold bolt has not come loose, I found one to the rear of the engine on the passenger side which was unscrewed about 1cm and this allowed coolant to leak onto the valley gasket and off the bellhousing. Also check the blanked off rubber hose under the throttle pot to make sure it is not leaking.

If your positive its coolant use a torch and check in the valley under the inlet manifold. I had a leak from the bottom of the housing of the temp sensor[the one almost under the thermostat]and it would run on top of the valley gasket down onto the bell housing and drip off the gearbox in various areas. It was easy to identify as coolant, because of the pink colour due to the antifreeze. This was a bcensoredtard of a job to sort as i had to remove the plenum, inlet manifold, fuel rail, etc to fix it properly. Also wise to renew the valley gasket and end seals at the same time.
