'02 Griff 500 SE won't start on its own
Discussion
Hey everyone,
I don't usually post in this part of the TVR forum as I don't have a griff but I've been asked by a fellow French TVR owner to get some help concerning his prob.
So here it goes
3 weeks ago the car had the engine redone (by who I don't know really, I assume a garage in France)
Car worked fine for a week but 2 weeks ago it just stalled.
The owner thought he was probably out of gas and refueled with 20L of 95 octane (that's what we have in France)
The car started again but after getting home and trying to start it the following day, it just didn't work.
Took it to a French garage and spent the entire afternoon with the mechanic.
They've checked the following:
Petrol arrives fine at 2.8 bars
Spark plugs are fine
Air filter
Distributor cap is fine
Apparently, the engine 'drowns' as the spark plugs get wet.
He went back to the garage to work it out this week and the car starts when they disconnect the fuel pump but after a while stalls
Apparently the mixture is too rich
When he leaves the fuel pump connected it doesn't start.
The cylinders get filled with petrol after 2s
The admission gate works fine apparently.
Any input would save this lad a few quid and a lot of time.
Any help or ideas welcomed !!
