My one rear Bilstein has given up so the time has come to bite the bullet and replace all of them I feel.I am thinking of either the std yellow Bilsteins again (from Blackdown as they have adjustable spring platforms}or Nitrons,as Ive had them before and was very happy with them. I just wondered if there is anything new available now that wasn't an option when I last bought shocks five or more years ago? I'm familiar with Protech and Gaz which I dont fancy but is there any other decent quality options nowadays?

Racing Green recommend ASTs. About the same price as Nitrons, could be worth an enquiry re. pros and cons. Also seen Intrax recommended on here.

Both myself and haircutmike run mono's and i must say they defo feel an improvement over my GGP which i was also v happy with!
I intend to put them through their paces over the summer with extensive track use from the ring and spa to smaller Uk tracks such as cadwell!
I will report back on the highs and lows smile

Thanks for the replies guys. I havent heard of the AST's before so I'm going to look into them. Must admit the lastest Gaz alloy bodied shock does look much better quality than the previous offerings.I never realised they did these so perhaps I shouldnt discount them based on the earlier stuff? I think I'll have a closer look at these as well.

I had ASTs on my last Impreza. They were very good for the road, but a bit soft for track use - and didn't really have the adjustable range for it. The quality was very good too.

After 7 years and 20.000 miles one of my front Nitrons have failed - no pressure, no oil and no damping left. Will do a complete changover back to original springs and new set of Bilsteins. Better suited for normal driving and "everyday" use in my opinion, at least no "rattling". Per

Nitrons are probably better but more expensive and I know I would be forever adjusting it. Nitrons also need servicing every 2 years i believe. Bilstiens fit are forget and a very good quality shock. My car has it's orignal Bilstiens on for over 13 years with no failures and no leaks, and to be honest although clearly past there best all things considered they still performed admirably.

An excellent choice for a road car IMO
