Can someone tell me the significance of the Big Valve designator on the TVR 4.3 engine and what does HC mean on a 5.0 and how do they differ from the non BV/HC version.
Are there any known issues with say the 4.3 BV engine. James Agger has a nice 4.3BV Griff for sale (perhaps a bit expensive though James!) but I don't understand the BV bit.

Ian - BV = Big Valve, there were only a few, Griffith 4.3BVs so they are rare. All 500 Griffs are HC, it stands for Highlift Cam, which they all had fitted. Some people think it makes their cars more distinctive in a for sale advert, that's all. Do a search of the TVR forums (Griffith & Chimaera) for HC and you will see there is an endless debate about it but basically that's it. Rich...

You are right but we had a very busy month and I took it in last Friday and an running it myself to be honest.
I really like the sound of it with a stainless straight through exhaust system and no cats. So I wasn't that fussed short term if it sold or not as I really needed it to go to the growl last weekend! So I thought well if it goes at that price then so be it.
Anyway emotions aside now I have re priced it to be about normalish!
Chap who part exchanged it has kept it so nice and he bought our number 14 Limited Edition Griffith so it was the next logical step forward for him.

Shame about Exton on Sunday. I'd love to see the car 'in the flesh'.
If I come down - and the IF is IF IT ISN'T WEEING DOWN & IF YOU DON'T TAKE THE PEE OUT OF MY GF's S2000 - we can have a chat about it
Whilst I am on the subject of Exton/Notts TVRCC, although I love the look of the Griff, I quite like the Chim too, especially now I've found out you can get the 'faired in' headlight look. Is there somebody out there who will let me climb in and out of their Chim and Griff so I can get a feel for them both.
Not interested in the practical stuff like big boot etc, I need headroom
and someone told me at the Griff Growl the Chim has less headroom. Sorry chaps but it will mean sticking the roofs back on !
Oh I forgot to mention, although I am a member of TVRCC and went to the recent Griff Growl, this will be my first TVR so I hope you will excuse my ignorance. Ta muchly.

If you turn up at Exton, look for me, in the bright yellow BBWF T-shirt. You're more than welcome to try Wol for size. By the way, Peter Wheeler is 6'4" so I'd think he'd make sure tall people can fit!

It's not just headroom. The transmission tunnel on the Chim gets in the way of the long-legged more so than that of the Griff (according to my extensive tests - comprising sitting in a Chim just to absolutely cement the fact that I wanted a Griff).
