Fitted a set of these today, initial impressions are very good

205 front, and 225 rears, max sizes possible on gottis,

very sharp turn in, no road noise (unlike some track tyres ive tried), and though the road wasnt soaked, did get a chance to try them in a damp road. , felt very solid, no hint of drift or slip at points when the prevoius tyres would be squeeling.

definately recommended,

how are you finding putting the torque of an LS engine through 225 rears!!! i know run 255 888's and can spin them in 1,2,3 without trying to hard!

Threw these on the car a few weeks ago, in replace of Kumho V70a 's ...... initially was unsure due to different manners of the tyres compared to the Kumho's

Love them now thumbup ..... very very good in the wet and the dry. I like to drive fast, and as such swithched to trackday tyres (Kumho's) from my previous T1R's, which gave me the confidence to get the power down earlier coming out of bends/roundabouts etc...... however having read about the R1Rs, and taking into account the Kumho's were only doing about 3500-4000 miles per set, and a very noticeable drop in grip in the wet, I decided it was time for a change/experiment...... R1R's are def for me in terms of performance, just need to see how they wear.

on the road, keeping the gottis, the 225 is as wide as i can go. so far, as long as im not stamping on the gas theyre fine. if i punch too hard in 1st and 2nd, they will spin, but my last cobra was running 295 yoko, and that would spin too, so to some extent, just have to accept that right foot control is part of the game. Its no longer acceptable to plant the right foot hard, and assume itll all stick. it wont! (in the end i fitted traction control which helped)

IF i do find its an issue, then i can always get a set of 17/18 rims, wider, then add wider rubber, and traction control, but for road use, im hoping not to.

Interesting and thanks for the reply, I'm running 255 888's on a 9 inch rim on the rears and once warmed up i get full traction even with a heavily planted right foot smile Cold tyres or a bit of water on the road and the car just spins up in the first two gears! Where the 295 yoko a track or road tyre? and what size wheels where you running? Thanks for the info wink

I will give you a shout later in the year and see how you and getting on. I may consider these for mine if you find they wear well.
