I need to change the tires of my early Griffith

Dimensions

Front: 205 - 55 - 15 ZR
Rear : 225 - 50 - 16 ZR

In Belgium, we are very strict in this matter. I need Z speed rating or at least W (not V).

The only tires I found (in UK) with the same pattern for both diameters are the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002.

This tire is not distributed in Benelux, France and other countries....

Please find below some information about Potenda Adrenalin RE002

http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/treads/re002.a...

Load Index is 88 for the front (15) and 92 for the rear (16).

Do you think they are suitable for the car ? No idea if they will work with the car though

Otherwise, a belgian tires specialist suggest the following combo :

Yokohama tire S drive for the front (speed rating W) and Bridgestone S02 (speed rating Z) for the rear but the pattern will be different.

I am hesitating. Is it not better the have the same tires type all round ?

For the instance, I have Dunlop Sport SP9000 but Dunlop is not producing the 16' anymore.

Any feed back / exchange pf experience with these Potenza Adrenalin ? Thank you.

AFAIK, the Bridgestone SO2 is NOT the same as the SO2-PP that our cars originally came with. The current SO2 is a Porsche specific compound and too hard for the TVRs.

These tyres look like a good replacement. Anything W or Z rated in 15" is difficult to find. If anyone tries this please let us know how you get on.

You should be able to get the Yokohama S.drive in 225/50 R16 92W.

Great find! A new entry in the UHP tyre market for 2012 that carries sizes and speed ratings that fit our cars, and from the OE supplier, too .. who would've thought we'd get that lucky... smile

Yep, all we have got to do now is see if they are available in this country and if they suit our cars.
Wonder if Bridgstone will "lend" us (especially the op) a set to try? smile

Before I bought my Chimaera I had already bought a set of 17 inch wheels off a Chim 500 owner. I know, I still have the 15s and 16s as that is the recommended set up.....but my TVR specialist said ok, why not put them on the car for the summer and try them out on a track day. He also said that if it worked they would be good, as I would have trouble getting good track tyres in 15s. So i did take it on a track day, kept up with the Griffith in front, and it handled pretty well, except that the front tyres were inadequate and locked up under even moderate braking, and the rears were too large, so that they caught on the left wheel arch at 80 in third on tight right-handers.
Undaunted, I took his further advice and changed the 215/45 fronts and the 225/45 rear tyres for a lower aspect ratio. I meant to go for 215/40 all round, but instead got 205/40 ZR17 84W all round, Yokohama Parada Spec 2. The grip is fantastic, I can barely lock up the fronts under emergency braking, and the cornering is awesome. Don't just trust me - my TVR specialist did some work on the car on Wednesday and took it for a drive to test everything. He called me straight after and said in a very surprised voice "the handling is awesome on those tyres". I have read that they are less good in the wet.....
I will be going back to the same track in the next few days, so will report back. On the road I already know if feels really planted.

Thank you. Unfortunately, Yokohama UK confirmed "We don’t stock the rear size in the UK I'm afraid. We do have stock the fronts available". Same in Germany and Belgium.
