handling problems
Discussion
OK going to try it again. Has asked this question before. I've chanced all of the bushes and bought new shocks Intrax racing suspension which my brother also uses on his ferrari's. His restores classic racing cars. He has set up my car and must say it was very good. But what i noticed is that the handling will only last for a few months. My brother thinks it is because of angle which the shocks have to made. This causes, in his opinion, the silent blocks to wear out very fast. Is this a common problem. Now he wants to replace them with rose joints. Anyone done this before? Other problem is that stabilazor rubber seems to wear out very fast. Thanks.Sorry for my English from The Netherlands.
Yes the top bushes in particular have a very hard life because they're blasted by heat from the manifold as well as having 1.5 x the weight of the car on them all the time. I'm running rod end bearings on the V8S. The ride quality is not too bad considering the high spring rates I am running, but I think this is largely because I am using Nitron dampers. Lesser dampers tend to give poorer ride quality and without the bushes to take out the harshness it could get very uncomfortable.
Thank for the reply. I talked it over with my brother and he told me it was also because of movement(not up and down) but, now i absolutely do not know the English word, also because of "sideways"movement of the shocks due too spring pressure. He told me Nitron shocks are same quality as Intrax both gas shocks but he uses Intrax because of the fact that he can ask Henk Thuis owner of Intrax shocks exactly what he wants. The Griff shocks were specially made for me. My brother also made some heat shields to protect the shocks from warming up too much because of the manifolds. By the way he is the mechanic of Knapfield, Barron Connor racing. He also told me that there are some problems with the stabi rubbers they are too soft and wear out pretty easily. So together with your advise i am convinced now to replace my silentblocks with rod end bearing. So after thanks for your advise. Always good to get a second opinion thanks for that.
