Steering movement
Discussion
Look at the top of the rack adjacent to the input shaft. You will see a large locknut, (about 19mm) with an Allen key screw in the center.
Loosen locknut and screw in allen headed screw a tad, lock up and test. Repeat untill it stiffens up then back off a tad till it feels free.
If play is still there then join the club, there are no pinion or rackbar spares.
Before you panic, check you haven't play in the track rods.
Put car on stands, get someone to wiggle the steering wheel a little and observe the input shaft. You can see if there is slack there, if so, it's the rack and pinion.
HTH.

Tried this on mine but all it did was stiffen up the rack, didn't take out any of the play. Loosen locknut and screw in allen headed screw a tad, lock up and test. Repeat untill it stiffens up then back off a tad till it feels free.

There must be an opportunity for someone to make up some service parts for these racks.
