Hi Guys
just new here looking and gathering info on possible Griff purchase Based in the Northeast I was originally considering a Westfield Seight but have always fancied a TVR.
I had a flying visit to Fernhurst while visiting friends and that chnaged my mind to the Griff, so now I'm going through the threads gathering info and useful tips.
A silver one has caught my eye at a dealer in Bristol and wondered if anyone knew the car the reg is TVR500N but will be going onto V927GLM when sold.
I'm sure this will be the first of many posts hopefully I'll be able to contribute in time
cheers

Hi Mark
I dont know the car in question but Im a recent Griff convert having bought a 1992 400, specifically because it was a pre-cat. Obviously the latter the car hopefully the better. Early cars had the Rover Gear box which I have changed on mine for a T5 from a Tuscan. Latter cars (Serpentine engine) have revised oil pump drive which gives better oil pressure.
The Griff 500 is rumoured to have crank problems, although there are plenty about that dont seem to have. People in the know say they will eventually fail if regularly tracked. 4.3 big valves are the rarest cars all built around 1992/3 I think.
I bought a Griff as I wanted something depreciation resistant, although Ive probably blown that with what I have spent in the last 8 months. I love mine and wish I had bought one years ago.
Last point cars that have had the chassis and out riggers refurbished seem to fetch the best money, if you can, get the car over a pit or on a lift and have a very good look before you buy.
Good luck!

Bought my 500 10 years ago, been all over er Europe and 86000 miles later she's only broken down twice. Once was a connection to immobiliser and the next a short on ecu. The trick is to get someone to look at the car who knows them as there are keepers and poorly looked after cars out there. If you need someone in Bristol, pm me I can put you in touch with the local chap who looks after my car. I he can take a look for you and give you a better idea if it's worth it.
