Oil cooler questions
Discussion
The standard oil filter (ERR3340) should fit with a Mocal sandwich plate.
Use a sandwich plate with built in thermostat or use a separate one.
Coolers come in various sizes, i used a 19 Row 235mm matrix.
Not too convinced that a cooler is absolutely necessary unless racing. With synthetic oil temps very rarely get out of hand.

It might vary from car to car, but I've seen an oil cooler kit being fitted on a trackday Chim - definitely needed the shorter filter as the standard one wouldn't go anywhere near - you'd be jacking the engine up an inch off its mounts to get a standard filter off! May depend on which oil pump (serp/pre-serp) set up you've got?

What are you calling a standard filter? The standard ERR3340 is quite a shortfilter to start with, i have seen longer spurious ones usually on Range Rover's.
:shrugsshoulders: All I'm saying is I've been at SFR in stockport when they've had a chim 500 on the ramp for an oil cooler installation. SFR use the genuine Land Rover filter, and on that particular car, it wouldn't clear the chassis. A shorter filter had to be used, again, from memory, a genuine LR part. No idea if they usually need to fit a shorter filter or not, if I remember next time I'm in, I'll ask Shane.
It might depend on the age of the car, preserp or not etc etc, and what sandwich plate is used. Try it and see
