I am having my OZ alloys refurbished & on removing the tyres, I have been told that one of the fronts on my 92 4L is a gone-er…..I presently have all S03’s, but a quick search of the internet & by the tyre fitter through his suppliers has drawn a blank. Any suggestions as to one or two of these would be gratefully received – 205/55/ZR15 ??
Thanks
Marco

I'm using Yokohama S-Drives 205 55 W R15'S, happy with them after 2500 miles so far this year.

I have a couple of SO3's in my garage with decent tread. Can't remember the size but I'll check tomorrow when I get home from work.. I've got an idea they're the size you mention. scratchchin

Hi Marco, You'll probably struggle to find the tyres for 15" rims in a ZR speed rating anymore. I went for Toyo Proxes T1R's after good reviews on here and have been happy with them, although they need a slightly higher than normal pressure (e.g. 24-26 psi). They are a V rating (up to 149mph) so you'll need to let your insurance know, but most insurance companies are fine with the different rated tyres once they realise that it's near impossible to get ZR rated tyres. Camskill have then for under £60 each.

All Bridgestone SO3's are well past their 'sell and use by dates now and are only fit for use as playground swings. Go for the TR1s

I have to say after swapping from SO3 to TR1's, I'm more than happy. A really good tyre for the Griff.

These W rated tyres should be OK?

Yokohama SDrive AS01 Yokohama S Drive AS 01 - 205/55 R15 88W TL

I am using Toyos and agree that they do need a little higher pressure than the TVR spec of 22F and 24R and suggest 24F/26R.

I also know a couple of people who are happy with Falken FK452 on the rear (16")...I don't think they do them in 15".

Incidentally, I have them on a MB S Class and they are very good. Not relevant here because the car weighs 2 tonnes...but teh side walls are stiff.

The Falken ZIEX ZE912 is available for front and back, but is V rated.

Good luck! smile

If I may make another suggestion, I've just ordered Bridgestone RE002s for my chimaera.
The sizes I ordered are 205/55-15 and 225/50-16, both in W rating, so good up to 168mph.
