HI.
I bought my first Griff 500 a week ago and it is idling at 1000rpm I thought this was the norm.
Finding now that it wont keep this as a constant and will go up and down around 50/100 rpm have seen on another thread that the fans cutting in will have some effect but the engine doesnt feel right.
Any ideas....!

1000 is OK but you wouldn't want it to idle any higher.
As already said 1Krpm is not necessarily a over high tick over. If its been 'tuned' at all, wilder cam etc then they are sometimes not happy to tick over. If its had a tornado chip then base tick over speed is one of the adjustments, mine has been reset to 950/1000 as it was a little rough down at 850
.
