I have noticed some very fine cracks appearing at the front of my Griff (‘96 500) just above the driving lamps. The same on both sides - anyone else have the same?

My first thought was that the fibreglass had suffered some form of impact but there is no other sign of impact at all and both areas are just behind the front ridge of the nose (if you know what I mean) so any front impact would have hit the nose first. It might just be a stressed area in which case it would most likely have happened to others. Anyone else?

Bummer isn’t it, I’ve got a couple on the nose now. I was hoping, when I eventually get round to a stone chip job, that these could be cut out and filled.

I have noticed on a few older Griff’s cracks at the corner of the boot opening to the top corner of the rear light recess, ain’t got these yet.

Cheers,

Simon.

Thanks Simon. Sorry to hear you are similarly afflicted! I haven't noticed it on other cars but I suppose I haven't looked that closely. I'll be looking out for stress cracks appearing around the boot now

i have one from the offside headlight that extends about 10mm upwards and towards the bonnet line.I think it is from a previous repair.
I have not noticed any on the boot but i will look.

As a word of warning dont put to much in the boot, i returned from a camping trip the other week and noticed a "star" had appeared on the nearside lower quarter. This i think was caused by some fold away chairs.

I have one under the rear light, starting to look like a spiders web.

Apparently it is when the Fibre Glass isnt left to cure properly.
