My serp 500 has a small diameter plastic pipe from the plenum to the circular vacuum housing on the distributor as is normal. On the other side of the housing is a small stub which is covered by a black rubber blanking cover. On my car this blanking cover is missing.... problem is, who sells them? Would appreciate any advice.

Just plug a short length of generic vacuum hose with some silicon sealant to blank it off.

Thanks for that Ben, I think that's what I will have to do. Would have liked the actual part but not going to buy a new distributor to get it!

What's it for anyway? RV8 runs ok even with a cracked dizzy diaphraghm. No discerable difference in performance, economy etc.

John, YHM.

Tavan, Thanks for the link.

EGB, Yes, I wondered why they are fitted. Surely if you have a vacuum on one side of the diaphragm you need atmospheric pressure on the other or the diaphragm will not be able to move.

However it seems safer to fit one as that's the way the factory made them.
