Just been looking at the £24,000 1996 Griff...same model as mine, colour as mine, same interior as mine, mine is a 1998 with lower mileage showing, my drivers seat looks less worn and although they claim it is unmolested if you look at the interior pics you can clearly see the handbrake button has been replaced with an alloy one!
Mine must be worth 26k at least!
or maybe not.
Are Griff prices on the up? Perhaps I should sort of the agreed value on my insurance.

indeed, griff prices rised a lot in the last months...interesting is that the market looks like being controlled by a few dealers. there is hardly any griffith for sale from private.
it seems like the dealers buy all cars to control the market AND the price.
interesting is that nearly all cars offered from dealers are low mileage cars.
(should i say that i visited one of those well known dealers arond 2 years ago and became witness how another low mileage car was "produced", incl. matching service history?)

i think you can imagine what is necessary to get the mileage "corrected"?
dont worry, i wont name any dealer here. its one of the well known ones.
sometimes reading the (service) history often helps to determine that something could be wrong:
e.g.: a car with 10.000miles,in total 3 owners, which was stored most of its time in a dry garage. when the owner changed from 2nd to 3rd (at 9000miles), the new owner stripped the complete suspension because it showed severe corosion....
we all know that the power-coating quality from TVR wasnt the best...but afer 9k miles only a very neglected car would show such signs of wear...or, which might be more relevant, the car was driven more than 10.000miles in reality.
Service hisotry was matching because it was always sold by the same dealer, re-bought, than resold and so on.
this is 1 example...but there are plenty of those on the market....another story:
20k mileage car, from anoter dealer, described as perfect, original unmolested paintwork, never been resprayed, accident free, perfect chasssis: the car was metallic green, undbody/chassis had been recently waxolyd and the waxoyl showed green metallic overspray.

I think with all cars it is buyer beware.
So long as you can find a car that is backed up with multiple sources for the mileage (like previous MOT's, dealer stamps from various dealers each year, mileage on invoices over the years, HPI mileage records matching you records) then you should be fine.
I doubt all these things could be forged.
However, if I was looking at a car with only the dealer stamped service record and all the stamps are the same (or become the same at a point when the mileage stops increasing) then you need to be very careful.

Are we actually complaining here because our cars are going up in value?
I'm confused.
I paid 15k for my rolling restoration project 'immaculate' car some 7 years ago shortly before TVR went tits up and the backside fell out of the market. If its worth that again its long overdue but I won't be celebrating because it isn't going anywhere - quite literally until i get the diff back in
Still wouldn't mind a T350 though
