Is there a correct (or best) type of gasket for exhaust manifolds (early 500)? I guess best = most tolerant of heat and least likely to fail? I've heard mentions of a stainless steel variety - anyone come across these?

Cheers.

There's also gut advertising on TVR parts classified, sets that are used on the RV8 Tuscans, I have used them on mine.

Use the metal faced one's, I didn’t first time and they didn’t last more than a few weeks.

I've had the metal faced ones before and had the filling blow out... and can you size them to fit 500 heads on the port?... not sure.
I got some last time that were great... like normal gaskett material both sides but with fine wire mesh in the middle to keep it all together... I've just taken the exhaust manflds off and they were all 100%...
Think they came from Clever Trevor but were old stock?... will have to see if he has any more smile

Got mine form PHer Aaron C. Reskew who advertises in the classifieds

They are the ones with fine wire through them.

He made me a set specifically for my ported manifolds based on my cornflake box templates, so gets a thumbs up from me for service

OK... did mail Ian asking what the construction was before but didn't get an answer... will follow these up as this design allows it to seal to both faces whilst maintaining its strenth with the mesh... smile
