Ok then you handling gurus, My front left always locks up first when I stand on the brakes in a straight line. I can see nothing different about the brakes and they don’t pull to the left, the dampers are new. But I have removed the battery and replaced it with a lighter RedTop20, and don’t have a passenger. Do I need to slightly lower the ride height in that corner to put more weight on the wheel ? I don’t want to alter the dampers because it goes round corners nicely as they are. Thanks for any advice.

get the car corner weighted if you're happy with the set up. though you may need to change the set up once corner weightings been done. levels no good, you need about 1" rake to the front and i was suprised how "on the piss" mine looked when weighted. each spring base at a diferent height and my weight was not in the car ofcourse.

if you are a couple of degrees out it COULD explain this. its not expensive...couple of hours labour.

usually its n/s lock ups as tracks are r/handed. thought the left is more prone to warping etc as it does more work, causing probs. heat etc.

you could have a lazy caliper or a brake hose thats swelling. have you put braided hoses on...they're a must and again very cheap for the gain!

It might be just be down to how the pads are fitted in the callipers. Mine was put on a rolling road/brake tester where you could see how much braking force was going to each front wheel. One wheel was braking more then the other. Pads out, cleaned and replaced and things were pretty much back to normal (still a little out actually but not noticeable driving).

Could also be down to road camber? i.e. more on the nearside so slightly less grip available? Just a thought.

In my MOT days, this was usually caused by brakes sticking in the slides or pads in their locators, a good clean and a quick file of the pad retainer area usually sorts it.A bleed of the system can sometimes also help.
