I have just had this years renewal in from Manning. The premium is £360 based on 2k miles pa, Griff 500 with a few minor mods, garaged with myself and my wife to drive, we are both early 40's, the car has a guaranteed value of £17k.

Does this sound reasonable? I haven't shopped around for a while since moving from Haggerty when they closed their scheme.

I moved away from Mannings last renewal, they wanted £395, now with Adrian Flux, £250 3000 miles garaged and covered for use to and from work whenever ai want!

Apples and pears as in one persons quote can vary from another's for many reasons, location age use etc, question is are you happy with it? I wouldn't say its excessive compared to what I pay but as I said, I'm not you.

For what it's worth, I had the misfortune to make a claim a couple of years ago and have to say that Mannings made it as painless as possible, a quality concern. Out of interest, I have gained 'cheaper' quotes but have stayed loyal due to their superb customer care. Just my penneth.
PS. quote sounds good to me.

the year the car was made in makes a big difference , a griff or chim made in 92 to 95 is classed as a classic
and the premium you pay is approx half what you will pay for a later model that's what I have found "should have kept my 92 S "

your quote by the way seems very good with mannings if you also have some mods fitted what year is your car ?

I have found classicline very good worth a try

I've just been through the ringing round bit and for me (Griff 500, self and friend to drive, some modifications, 5k miles and agreed value) Adrian Flux was offering the same insurer (Equity red Star) as RH Insurance and also Classicline. There were interesting differences in what they bundled in (eg RH had everything bundled in incl Europe breakdown, whilst C'line had the UK recovery in and could add Europe - came to about the same price - whereas Flux quoted the cover separately and were actually cheaper for me by some way). There are also some sillies in the C'line quote - for some reason they say you always have to carry 2 sets of keys (a general condition of their breakdown policy whereas Flux offer the same provider (Equity Red Star) but only want 2 sets of keys when on the continent. I had a few queries with C'line that I emailled and asked them to reply to (eg. what happens if you don't have 2 sets of keys - stupidly nothing to stop you from putting them on the same key ring - and then you can lose both sets at once thus saving time!) - to date no reply so they didn't get the business and Flux were cheaper anyway (they didn't know that). The Flux price was £280 plus £54 for breakdown incl Home Start and Europe and also with free legal cover; (C'line wanted about £335 with UK b'down and would add in Europe for I think about £50 or so whereas RH were at about £380/90). They have since done the agreed value which lasts for 2 years and cost me £15. Mannings were as ever very knowledgeable and helpful but quite a bit dearer - excl B'down they were well over £400 from memory - but as said above it all depends on your own circumstances so worth ringing round.

The mannings quote doesn't seem bad. It's not worth changing company to save £50 if the worst happens and they turn out to make claiming painful IMO. Based on what people say here, Mannings would appear to be a reasonably safe bet in the event of a claim, and if you do ever need to claim, what's your time worth per hour to deal with it?

I was with Manning for a few years, last year the renewal was £62 up on the previous year ...no change in circumstances, miles etc. Maybe they were hoping I'd just renew without question.

Adrian Flux, Henderson Taylor, and Classic line all came in with lower quotes for similar cover and excess.

Classic line were the most competitive and included UK breakdown (which with Manning was extra) so around £80 saving all in.

Offered Manning the opportunity to review their quote but they declined...reply was a bit snotty in fact.

Anywho I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and get them to quote again this year to see how they measure up.

(PS didn't notice the 2 key clause with Classic Line at the time ...will have to check my documents)

Thanks for the replies. I thought the premium seemed reasonable and I am happy with the service from Mannings but as I haven't shopped around for a while, I just wanted to double check that it seemed a reasonable price.

MY renewal with Mannings is up 15% because of a claim. im reasonably happy with that, now its £385 for 5,000 miles.
a couple of minor issues with them.
They said they saw me on pistonheads!! so i am very careful with what i write.
i was near the 5000 mileage limit, and renewal 6 weeks away, there advice was dont use it, they could have advised me to start the renewal 6 weeks earlier maybe

but they seem reasonable to deal with and it includes 3 x track day insurance and a 25 bhp mod
and i have 2 other cars with them
