Expansion tank fixings

Could any one tell me where i can get a couple of the 8mm threaded alloy inserts that fix into the top front chassis tube for the expansion tank to bolt into.I think they expand into place when you tighten the bolt similar to a pop rivet, any addvice would be a help regards Steve.

You could try B&Q hollow wall fixings (plated steel) I’ve used smaller ones to mount my alarm and water bottle to the inner wings. The only problem is you need to hold them on initial installation, but once they’ve clamped up their fine.

You might be talking about a 'riv-nut', I've a 4.0 pre cat and don't have this expansion tank.

Anyway, a riv-nut can be mild steel or aluminium and you have a special tool to insert them (like a big pop-rivet gun).

I haven't used them but I know of there existance from taking to my local 'Nut House' (supplies Nut and Bolts) and they also hire this tool out at around £10.

Thanks for your help guys Paul you were spot on I got on the phone today to local bolt suppliers asking for riv nuts soon tracked them down not only the alloy ones as fitted standard ,but some identical in steel 20p each so i fitted two steel ones i dont understand why TVR fitted alloy in the first place ,they are fitted into a steel cross member holding a steel bracket using steel bolts so why use an alloy thread insert, so thanks again good luck Steve.

Got a feeling that they use alloy for insertion in the fibreglass, so the easy option (for them/TVR) would be to use them in steel cross-members.

You should be happy that you've now got a 'Modified' TVR
