£457 and 2 months wait for clutch parts!......

Shopped around this morning for a new clutch for my Griff - couldn't believe dealers quote (and this is just for the parts, I'm fitting it).

Long live independent suppliers I say.....

Anyone bought a clutch for a 500 lately and care to offer any recommendations?

Had one fitted by TVR Power when I had my Taraka upgrade in March. They had the parts in stock, but were around the same price as you've been quoted.

Been told this week a new clutch pack is £3-400, or you can get a recon unit for something like £120. Not sure if this is for a T5 or a Rover box tho'.

Have a chat with V8 Developements, speak to Ray or Shaun, see what they can do for you. I've always found them to helpful even if you don't buy off them and if you do not too expensive.

This is the reply i got from AP Racing when I asked them the some question......

The Rover V8 powered TVR Griffith are normally equipped with a Ø9.5" clutch type.

AP Racing used to supply TVR with a medium torque clutch kit.

CP2345-8 pressure plate, clamp load 1900lb, retail £97.12 + vat

CP2346-4 driven plate, spring centre, organic facings, 1.0"x23T spline. retail £92.55 + vat

this combination will handle 270lbft.



The next option will accept 300lbft

CP2394-14 pressure plate, clamp load 2400lb, triple drive straps to add strength for reverse torque from down changes, SG iron pressure plate casting rated to 9,000RPM. retail £138.00 + vat. Release load will increase by approx10% over above kit.

Use with CP2346-4 driven plate.
