So...

...how do you get at the bottom bolt head in the wing access panel so you can remove the clutch master cylinder? Top one is nice and easy but the lower one is well hidden by the master cylinder itself and the wing.

Do I need some kind of special tool for the job as I'm currently stuck for a good idea on how to remove it.

Cheers,

Simon

i managed to do it with one of those UJ knuckles that fit on the sockets. along with a long socket and a 12 inch extension bar...was a bit of a faff though

from memory I used a short extender and guessed where the nut would be. unless you have a helper you can then cable tie your ratchet to the master cylinder reservoir whilst you crawl inside the footwell to undo the bolt. to reassemble I used some bluetack to hold the nut and washer in place while I poked the bolt back through from the footwell to find the nut. I found it much eaiser than it looks but a second pair of hands makes it much much eaiser. sorry for any typos doing this on the phone :-)

I took the whole pedal box out. Seems extreme, but I refurbed all the pedal box why it was out and blasted and powder coated it black. getmecoat

I did this - 1/4" drive ratchet, short extension and socket tie wrapped to the cylinder

You make a good point. The reason I want the clutch master cylinder out is so I can get the brake master cylinder out.

If I'm removing both can I just disconnect the pipes and remove them both with the pedal box as a single assembly? My pedal box is tatty and I'd like to refurb it.

in which case, just pull the whole out as a unit, and disassemble...

ps....only you will ever see the pedal box...

I had to disconnect the lower steering column and knuckle joint to bring the pedal box out. Yes release a the brake lines and the servo pipe.
The bolts to remove the pedal box are in the wheel arch and under the bonnet, one of them being a counter sunk bolt
I was the same. Once I saw the rusting pedal box it had to get blasted and powder coated.....

Once everything is disconnected pipe wise, the pedal box will come out without touching the steering column. Just make sure the clevis pip is out of the clutch pedal arm and completely unscrew off the clutch pedal. You can then manouvre the clutch arm over the column as the box is withdrawn.
